People with anxiety disorders or panic disorders feel acute symptoms of stress such as heart palpitations, excessive sweating, rapid breathing, and racing thoughts at random or irrational times. Sufferers may also feel a sense of impending doom or dread that is disproportionate to the stimulus at hand. These panic attacks occur independently of external stimuli in some people, while others suffer anxiety disorders related to specific environmental triggers, such as public speaking or being in enclosed spaces. Anxiety and panic disorders can become very limiting to those with severe cases.
